The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Loved. This. Book.
Dashner's second book in The Maze Runner series is just as compelling as book one. Thomas and the rest of the Gladers are back in action trying to solve the puzzle of WICKED and how it impacts their lives. Placed in a new setting, "The Scorch," the gang must work their way across to a safe haven all the while fighting off the Cranks that are too far gone to save.
I love the plot, I love the action, and I love the characterization of the Gladers and how it changes and develops. No one is static (well, except Frypan). New variables are introduced during this round of trails and relationships change. No one, it seems, can be trusted.
A definite solid book two - really looking forward to book three...Dashner - don't let me down!
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.
Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.
There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.
The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.
There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.
