For today’s prompt, write a poem about a sport. Pick any sport you want. And yes, feel free to bend and stretch the rules as far as you wish.
The National Anthem plays,
voices hail up to the sky
where balls will eventually fly,
popped by raging bats.
Pitches slung across home plate
hoping the night will decide the fate,
of your place within the state,
while you hold on to your hat.
Sliding into first,
running out the hurl,
of the ball on the whirl,
to quickly get you out.
Trading spots on the field,
your turn to wield,
coaches calling out the deal,
while you team hollers and shouts.
