2012 April PAD Challenge: Day 18

Day 18:

For today’s prompt, think of a favorite regional cuisine, make that the title of your poem, and then, write the poem. For instance, you may title your poem something like “Brunswick Stew,” “Deep Dish Pizza,” or “Jambalaya,” though the poem doesn’t exactly have to be about food.

"Fried Chicken"

Deep in south,
we fry our chicken to match
a location, of plantations
of remedied situations
of dark deep lamentations
and soul saving salvation...
with cornbread on the side.

Day 19:
For today’s prompt, write a life event poem. By life event poem, I mean a poem that takes place at or describes a life event, such as a wedding, birth, death, graduation, etc. There are so many possibilities.

The first breath of air,
the labored cry,
the slick mess
placed on your chest
that explodes your heart
and captures your soul
The real beginning of life.
