"Like Water in Their Hands"
compared, and dared
to retain for a year, a month...
Even a day, an hour
of understanding applied outside,
of skills to turn illegal bills.
Many will never see,
coveted shades of green,
as they lack the intelligence,
the know-how, the desire
to learn anything other than
a "check the block ain't never gonna use this shit"
attitude towards education,
given freely to them and they let it slip through,
like water in their hands.
